Edinburgh Children's International Theatre Festival 2008

Dates for 2008: 27 May - 2 June
Tel: +44 (0)131 228 1404

Edinburgh is home to the UK's largest theatre festival for children, showcasing a week long programme of performing arts and stage productions courtesy of some of the world's most prestigious children's theatre groups from countries such as Scotland, England, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Belgium, Poland, Norway and the Netherlands.

Inaugurated in 1988, this particular festival was previously branded as the Scottish Children's Film Festival, However, following its fairly recent sponsorship with one of the country's leading financial institutions, the full title of the festival has changed to The Bank of Scotland Children's Theatre Festival, tailored for the 3 - 12 year old age bracket. Managed by Imaginate - an arts company designated to children's performing arts, this leading children's festival is equally as diverse and impressive as an adult equivalent, ranking it as the finest of its kind in the UK.

The festival provides 2 day to 5 day packages designed for producers and practitioners. Each package gives practitioners the opportunity to meet colleagues and learn from other performers and producers from across the UK and beyond. Included in the price are tickets to all events, industry talks and social events as well as a delegate manual featuring stage company information and a contact list.

On average, The Children's Theatre Festival presents a total of 75 world class performances that captivate audiences and young children through to teenagers as well as their families and teachers. 2007's festival is set to serve an equally stunning feast of children's theatre of international acclaim. Festival organisers and staff are on hand to assist you and eagerly anticipate your visit to the festival this coming May.
