Dead by Dawn Festival 2008

Dates for 2008: 24 - 27 April

From its inception in 1993, Scotland's premiere International Horror Film Festival, Dead by Dawn showcases the best that horror has to offer spanning from cult to classic favourites and short movies. This unique festival is strongly committed to the exposure of the most exciting new talent in Scottish Horror script writing and production. This culminates in a 'Cutting Edge' Award Ceremony where festival audiences vote on Best Feature and Short Movie screened at Dead by Dawn.

The festival is managed in association with Filmhouse, the home of Edinburgh International Film Festival. Over the course of the four day festival, horror movie aficionados from up and down the country are treated to infamous sessions at the Edinburgh Filmhouse, showcasing anything from old Hitchcock classics to more contemporary screenings from Stephen King.

Solely dedicated to horror film - Dead by Dawn also attracts a host of leading cinematic horror stars. Recent guests to the festival have included the legendary Robert Englund from 'Nightmare on Elm Street', author Shaun Hutson and Stuart Gordon amongst other players of the genre.

The festival also stages a host of non-cinematic events for horror die-hards including the pre-festival club where guests have the opportunity to discuss emerging films and novels specific to the genre as well as meeting new, ground breaking script writers of both short and feature length horror movies. For those inspired by horror literature, horror story readings are scheduled over the course of the Dead by Dawn Festival coupled with spectacularly gruesome FX demos to captivate festival audiences.

Why not indulge in a feast of darkness this spring at Edinburgh's Death by Dawn Film Festival, the only one of its kind in the UK. Audiences have the choice to opt for an all-inclusive Festival pass or purchase tickets on a film-by-film basis. Certainly not for the squeamish and faint-hearted.
