The Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival delivers an enthralling
2 day programme of events for the interactive games industry and games enthusiasts
alike. Otherwise known as the Edinburgh International Games Festival, this
interactive and innovative event kick starts with the international forum
designed to bring people together from across the computer games industry.
This important forum promotes the cultural power of the industry and highlights
the evolution and impact of computer games entertainment on popular culture.
A host of guests and speakers from the media and telecom industries have
appeared at this particular forum since the festival's inauguration in 2002.
Exclusive to the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival (EIEF),
Games Screenings allows games aficionados to preview the best games before
anyone else and gives visitors the opportunity to speak to the creators
that make them possible.
Other attractions that have been offered at the EIEF include "Go
Play Games" which is a chance to be interactive with the latest games.
It also runs challenges and competitions with great prizes. An "Edge"
awards presentation ceremony which highlights games which are innovative
or achieved new standards of excellence.
The Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival (EIEF) is run by a committee
elected from all media disciplines, including publishers, developers and
two industry trade bodies; The Independent Game Developers Association
(TIGA) and the Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association
(ELSPA). EIEF is funded by Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothian and
by sponsorship from some of the leading corporations in interactive entertainment,
telecoms and retail which have included BT, GameStation, Nintendo, Orange,
PlayStation®2 and Xbox® supporting previous events. The Edinburgh
Interactive Entertainment Festival attracts big names from the games industry
and captivates audiences from all backgrounds, whether you are young or
mature, a novice or expert.
