Tel: + 44 (0)131 335 6200

The Royal Highland Show is an all-encompassing agricultural and food event regarded as the most prestigious of its kind in the UK. In 2006 more than 161,000 visitors were welcomed at the Royal Highland Centre in Ingliston, Edinburgh. This show presents a rich plethora of pastimes and leisure activities pertaining to agriculture, the countryside and pastoral life. Over the course of the event there is livestock judging, country fashion shows, handcrafts, live music and a diverse selection of competitions ranging from horse logging to pole-climbing.

The focal point at the Royal Highland Show is the main ring that plays host to the lion's share of activities. Visitors can marvel at the endurance, physicality and intelligence of dogs at the sheep dog demonstrations a well as the physical strength and adeptness of forestry workers and arborists who entertain you with host logging competitions as well as producing impressive wood sculptures which are available for purchase.

Over recent years, The Royal Highland Show has become one of the UK's foremost events for launching new food produce where visitors can sample a delicious and sumptuous feast of Scottish fare. A host of renowned chefs appear at the show to demonstrate their culinary talents, allowing visitors to sample their innovative creations. Hours can be spent at the food and drink exhibition alone and is certainly one of the highlights of the Royal Highland Show.

Children are equally well catered for, courtesy of the Royal Highland Federation Trust. Their objectives are to provide a learning and educational forum for children in Scotland, teaching them the values of the countryside and broaden their awareness of environmental, economic and social impacts of the countryside in Scotland today. Over the course of the show there are interesting and hands on workshops for children to engage in featuring livestock, produce, life cycle and living matter.
