Science fascinates all ages and intellects and continually absorbs us with fascinating studies and revelations. Science culminates in Edinburgh in an annual festival where for over 2 weeks 14 venues host 133 events.
Wonderama at the historic Assembly Rooms in George Street offers a 1 day pass with the full programme of events included. Attractions include dig up a dinosaur; ER surgery; Dr Heartbeat Lego Workshop; Advanced Lego Robosports; Mission Improbable and Unwrapping the Mummy. Finish your day at the iiRobotoics shop where you can browse for science education and fun memorabilia.
The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is paramount to science every day of the year and joins in the festival by welcoming more visitors and added attractions. In 2007 we have a better awareness and knowledge on how to reduce, reuse and recycle rubbish and with The Botanic's "A Big Pile of Rubbish" event our recycling skills are tested with games and competitions. Other events allow you to join in and learn about plants, compost, gardens, nature, herbs, habitats, birds of prey, endangered species, DNA, food and much more.
The University of Edinburgh hosts its own celebration of science with a fun packed programme to engage children and adults alike. Shows include "Dr Bunhead's Exploding Brain Show", "Robot Thought" and "The Chemistry Show". There are challenges involving "Crack the Code" and beat the robot at "the Connect 4 challenge". Hands on workshops include "colourful chemistry" and "mix and match monsters". Based at the National Museum of Scotland there is a fun packed programme of shows and activities.
