and in 1965; its own theatre group took ownership and have sustained its
growth into the 21st Century.
The Royal Lyceum's auditorium represents Victorian theatre architecture
at its finest, featuring an ornate proscenium arch, lavish deep red curtains,
plush velvet upholstery and a striking crystal chandelier. The three-tiered
auditorium features stalls, grand circle and upper circle, each easily
accessible to bars and facilities. Lifts are provided for easy access
to all parts of the auditorium.
The theatre company is inarguably one of Scotland's largest and most successful
to date. The Royal Lyceum is renowned their high calibre drama productions
which run from May to September at the theatre and children's pantomimes
are a regular showcase every Christmas.
The Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh is proud of their established and
ambitious education and outreach programme and the resident theatre company
provides a plethora of workshops for young people to engage in performing
arts.
Visitors can arrange to view the theatre by appointment. Visiting the
theatre outside performance schedules always proves to be an interesting
and educational experience where one can draw on the expertise of the
highly trained team of stage technicians and master carpenters who demonstrate
their ingenuity and creativity.
