Glasgow has a wonderful selection of public parks in and around the city. The choice is never ending and Glasgow has more greenery than many other European cities. You can enjoy a peaceful stroll in the West End and pop into Kelvingrove Park where there are not only beautiful walkways and views of the city but there is also a skate park and cycle routes within the grounds, and the River Kelvin is right beside this great parkland area too. The whole family can enjoy an exciting day out at any Glasgow Park including Queens Park with it's numerous play area's, rose gardens within and many activities for children and adults. These include an Orienteering Course, Putt and Pitch and Bowling Greens.
Glasgow Parks are also host to many festivals and family days out which run throughout the year and include fairground shows, face painting and music. Some of the parks with small ponds also have many model boat racing competitions, fun for all those gadget fans out there!
Bellahouston Park is on the south side of Glasgow, not only is it a big park, almost 175 acres, but it is bursting at the seams with things to see and do. Within the park you will find the usual children's play area, of which there are two, many walks and great views, but you will also be treated to The House for an Art Lover museum designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Not only that but you can even try out a spot of skiing at the Glasgow Ski Centre also set within the groundsGlasgow Green is said to be the city's oldest park dating back to at least 1450. Set in the heart of the city centre the park is closely located to the River Clyde. There are many monuments spread throughout the park and also a children's play area, there are also stabled horses within the park, which are exercised daily.
Whichever park you decide to go to on your visit to Glasgow you will find an inexpensive fun day out for the whole family or a peaceful afternoon relaxing and taking in the great atmosphere of Glasgow.
