About Ayr.
Ayr is a town, which lies in the heart of Burns country. With a busy shopping
centre, good public transport link and a seafront with beach this makes
Ayr the perfect location for a holiday or even a daytrip. There are many shops in the main street; you will find all the usual shops there as well as some small private shops, which are definitely worth a look. A good starting point for those wishing to tour the town is the town hall with its wonderful steeple. The town hall hosts many events throughout the year. Ayr harbour is a point of historical interest and the south side has recently been redeveloped to include luxury flats.
The most popular attraction in Ayr has to be Ayr Racecourse where you will be able to watch the Scottish Grand National if you time your stay at the correct time of year. The racecourse plays host to both flat and national hunt races throughout the year, so why not go along for the day and have a flutter.
Ayr is a scenic town with some great architecture; you will also find the usual diverse selection of pubs, clubs and restaurants.
