Welcome
(Angus and Dundee Hotels Section)
The magnificent region of Angus and Dundee in the East of Scotland combines
a rich history of ancient civilisation, monarchs and pioneers spanning two
millennia with some of Scotland’s most unspoiled landscapes interspersed
around its enchanting coastline and its stunning wilderness inland. Why
not uncover this unique region of Scotland’s East Coast and take time to
immerse in what Angus has to offer, from a fine selection of championship
golf courses at Carnoustie to romantic castles such as Glamis Castle, the
birthplace of The Queen Mother.
The region’s interior is certainly worth exploring during your visit with
a host of outdoor leisure pursuits at your disposal. Get away from it all
in wild and desolate landscapes of the Angus Glens that captivate all senses,
from constrating hues of moorland, to scented flora and melt water cascades
in the higher altitudes. Situated 30 minutes drive north from the hustle
and bustle of Dundee, The Angus Glens is excellent walking country, boasting
more than 10 peaks of more than 3,000ft . Popular beauty spots include Glen
Clova, north of Kirriemuir and Glen Lethnot where you can take to a vast
network of drovers paths that lead into the very heart of the Cairngorm
Mountains National Park.
In contrast to the sweeping mountainous landscapes, Angus is surrounded
with a beautiful rugged coastline interspersed with sandy coves, cliff tops
and a rich plethora of landmarks and attractions that unveil the area’s
Pictish roots. The coastal trail starts from the Dundee, heading eastwards
and northeast wards for 65 miles to the town of Montrose at the border with
Aberdeenshire. The town of Arbroath is favourite stop-off for its delicious
Arbroath ‘Smokies’, haddock which is slowly smoked over burning wood. Heading
north along the Coastal Trail, Dunnottar Castle is a must see attraction,
perched majestically above a rocky outcrop overlooking the North Sea.
Scotland’s fourth largest, Dundee is the region’s hub for exploring its
multitude of hidden gems. Dubbed the ‘City of Discovery’, many traces of
its maritime past and industrial age can be found at various sites across
Dundee from the award-winning Verdant Works, a heritage centre that uncovers
the Jute and Textile industry that the city was globally renowned for to
R.R.S Discovery at Discovery Point, Captain Scott’s famous ship used in
his Antarctic expedition. Throughout the year, Dundee offers cultural enthusiasts
an eclectic mix of events and festivals that celebrate its colourful arts
and music scene, including the annual Summer Festival, Guitar Festival and
the largest Food and Flower Festival in the country. Angus and Dundee has
