About Kinloch Rannoch
Located at the eastern end of Loch Rannoch, Kinloch Rannoch is a small village
that is an extremely popular destination with backpackers as a base for
walking trips. The area is set in magnificent scenery and with Glencoe and
its many Munroe summits available for climbers and walkers it makes the
perfect place to stay for "Munroe baggers". Schiehallion (fairy
hill of the Caledonians) is also close at hand and stands at an impressive
3552ft high, making it an impressive viewpoint for the whole area.
Rannoch Moor is a very boggy plateau where you will see all types of wild
life from birds to stag. At a height of 1000ft the Moor is a majestic place
covered with lots of small lochs, although stunningly beautiful especially
in sunlight it is definitely not a place to be stuck on a bad day.
Cycling and Mountain Biking are also popular in these parts and a favourite
destination for Mountain Bikers is Devils Staircase. Fort William is not
far away which has a top Downhill Track with Gondola access.
Fishing is abundant in these parts of Scotland with Salmon, Trout and many
other species of fish being in plentiful supply. Try fishing Lochs or Rivers
the choice is your, just make sure you get the appropriate permits.
