In August 2000, the theatre is proud to become the first producing theatre in Europe to include disabled actors in its productions. Theatre Workshop is equally renowned for its excellence through its education and outreach programmes and all aspects of their performances.
The theatre operates out of a 155-seat venue and is situated within Edinburgh City Centre. The work is produced at the venue allowing actors, musicians and designers a fuller role in the stage production process.
This professional theatre company is inclusive, meaning that it includes actors with disabilities who receive contracts on an annual basis. Theatre Workshop also has close associations with the voluntary sector who have specialist knowledge of minority groups.
The role of Theatre Workshop is to present a voice by exploring conflict and promoting diversity and difference. The theatre company aims to create a rich plethora of poignant, beautiful, accessible and honest theatre productions.
